Bank to Collect School Supplies at 120 Valley Banking Centers for Local Students in Need

Enlists Support of 2010 MLB All-Star Chris Young, Five-Time MLB All-Star Luis Gonzalez and World Champion Softball Pitcher Jennie Finch

PHOENIX – As the city of Phoenix prepares to host the 82nd MLB Midsummer Classic, Bank of America, the Official Bank of Major League Baseball®, is celebrating with the spirit of giving back and teamwork by inviting the community to “Give like an All-Star” and join the bank in its support for local schoolchildren in need.

Through Monday, July 11, customers, employees and baseball fans, can donate school supplies at 120 Valley Bank of America banking centers and worksites. The campaign supports Back to School Clothing Drive (BTSCD), an Arizona nonprofit that Bank of America has supported for nearly a decade, and provides new school uniforms, outfits, backpacks and school supplies to Title 1 schools and students who truly need assistance. Each participating Bank of America banking center will house a large baseball-themed donation box for the collection of needed supplies. Consumers are invited to donate items such as child-safe plastic or metal scissors, 24-count boxes of crayons, No. 2 pencils, colored pencils, 12-inch wood or plastic rulers, glue sticks, single-subject, spiral-bound notebooks, pencil sharpeners and rubber erasers. The Coalition of Blacks against Breast Cancer Hosts Monthly Survivor Network Meetings

Join the Coalition of Blacks against Breast Cancer (CBBC) for a monthly survivor’s network meeting the third Sunday of each month. The CBBC mission is to increase information, awareness, network, and support specifically dedicated to Black women and men breast cancer survivors. It’s a coalition built by Black breast cancer survivors for Black breast cancer survivors and only group within Metro Phoenix that focused specifically for Black women and men.

When:   Third Sunday of each Month: June 19; Sunday, July 17; Sunday, August 21

Give like an All Star – Back to School Clothing Drive’s New Clothes New Beginnings event set for July 11 – 15, 2011

This year baseball fills the air as the 2011 “New Clothes, New Beginnings” annual Distribution takes place July 11 – 15, as Major League Baseball’s All Star Game is played during the week of Back to School’s big annual event.  More than 5,800 children from 140 schools will receive new school clothing and school supplies with the help of 1,000 volunteers at the annual event taking place at the ASU Preparatory Academy, 735 E.
