Carla Wright is the owner of the Wright Event Management Group, a full-service event management and planning company. She also serves as KGPR’s event and operations manager. Planning and executing fundraisers, special events, and motivational seminars for her clients including KGPR, Mayo Clinic, State Farm Insurance, Back to School Clothing Drive, Camelback Periodontics, River Walk Periodontics, Bill Dickey Scholarship Association, and others.
Before branching out on her own, Ms. Wright accumulated more than 10 years of sales experience with major corporations such as Bank of America as Assistant Vice-President and as a Logistic Analyst in International markets with Lockheed Martin. In these positions she was responsible for developing clients, managing staff, and solving any issues that impeded efficiency and profitability.
In addition to her keen business acumen, Ms. Wright has a strong passion for serving others. As a Reservist in the United States Army for more than 20 years – and still going strong – she has worked her way up to the position of First Sergeant/Course Manager, where she directs a team of board-certified instructors in providing accredited military reclassification and leadership classes. During her military career, she has been awarded the Army Achievement Medal and the Army Commendation Medal and was nominated for the Noncommissioned Officer of the Year award.
Ms. Wright is a member of the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority (Vice Chair of Ways and Means Committee), the Junior League of Phoenix (Executive Board of Directors), the Lockheed Martin Leadership Association (Vice President), and the Metropolitan Arts Council (Executive Board of Directors). She has been honored as a member of the National Dean’s List and both Who’s Who Among American Business Women and Who’s Who Among International Management.
Ms. Wright received her master’s degree in business administration in 2002 from Webster University (Greenville, South Carolina), her bachelor’s of science degree in business administration in 1995 from the University of South Carolina (Spartanburg, South Carolina), and her associate’s degree in fashion merchandising in 1990 from Bauder Fashion College (Atlanta, Georgia).
